About Rembrandt

Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (1606-1669) was a renowned Dutch painter and etcher, considered one of the greatest artists in European history. He is best known for his innovative use of light and shadow, his ability to capture human emotions, and his masterful technique.

Born on July 15, 1606, in Leiden, Netherlands, Rembrandt showed an early aptitude for art and began his formal training at the University of Leiden at the age of 14. He later studied under the tutelage of acclaimed painters Jacob van Swanenburgh and Pieter Lastman.
