About Don Shoemaker
Don Shoemaker (1922-1990) was an American furniture designer and artist known for his exceptional craftsmanship and innovative designs. Born on March 28, 1922, in Nebraska, Shoemaker developed a passion for woodworking at a young age.
After serving in the United States Army during World War II, Shoemaker pursued his interest in furniture design and attended the Art Institute of Chicago. He further honed his skills by studying traditional Mexican furniture techniques and design principles, which would greatly influence his later work.
In the 1950s, Shoemaker relocated to Mexico, where he established his own furniture workshop, known as "Señal" (later renamed "Shoemaker"). Inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Mexico, he began creating unique pieces that Read Full Bio
