Born on September 14, 1912, in Venice, Italy, Sarfatti's career spanned over four decades, during which he revolutionized the way lighting was conceptualized and created.

Sarfatti's interest in lighting design emerged during his early years as a student at the University of Genoa, where he was studying aeronautical engineering. Fascinated by the interplay of light and space, he began experimenting with various lighting techniques and materials.
