About William Linnel

William Linnel (1729-1797) was an English furniture and decorative arts designer, renowned for his exquisite craftsmanship and innovative designs during the 18th century. He played a significant role in shaping the neoclassical style in British furniture and was highly regarded for his attention to detail and use of high-quality materials.

Born in London in 1729, Linnel was the son of John Linnel, a prominent cabinetmaker. He grew up in a family deeply involved in the furniture-making trade, which provided him with a solid foundation in the art of woodworking from an early age. Linnel's father, along with his uncle William Linnell, were both influential figures in the British furniture industry, and their expertise greatly influenced his career.
