About Hubert Robert

Hubert Robert (1733-1808) was a prominent French painter and designer who specialized in landscape and architectural art. He is best known for his picturesque and imaginative depictions of ruins, gardens, and architectural structures.

Born in Paris, France in 1733, Robert initially trained as an architect under the tutelage of his father. However, his true passion lay in painting, and he eventually abandoned his architectural studies to pursue a career as an artist. Robert enrolled in the prestigious Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture in Paris, where he studied under the renowned painter Jean-Baptiste-Marie Pierre.
