Art Nouveau

Art Nouveau is a style of art, architecture and design that was prominent between 1890 to 1925. The style of Art Nouveau first emerged in London and Paris but was used throughout Europe and the US. The iconic style of Art Nouveau was a reaction against the late 19th century traditional neoclassical design. Art Nouveau can be characterized by floral motifs, curvilinear lines, bold linear shapes, and feminine silhouettes.. The style of Art Nouveau was greatly influenced by the natural world and many Art Nouveau designs incorporate stylized flowers, plants and animals.

Finial

An ornamental, terminating piece that extends vertically from the apex of a design. In architecture, they are found at the tips of gables or spires, and in furniture, as top ornaments on cabinet corners, posts, or supports. Finial also refers to the decorative metal piece used to affix lampshades to table and floor lamps. They often take the shape of a ball, flame, flower, acorn, pineapple, or vase.

Enamel

An opaque or semi-opaque sealant finish applied to a hard surface such as glass, pottery, or metal through the process of fusion. As a finish, it is both ornamental and protective.

Porcelain

Porcelain is a hard, non-porous pottery. Porcelain is white, has a fine-grained body and usually translucent. Porcelain differs from earthenware in that earthenware is porous, opaque and coarse. True porcelain is made of kaolin or china clay.
