Lattice

Lattice is an openwork of various materials arranged to form an ornamental criss-cross pattern. Latticework is typically made of strips of wood or metal and is usually associated with the outdoors.

Stretcher

A stretchers is a stabilizing support rail which runs horizontally between furniture legs. These often form X, H, or Y shapes in conjunction with the outside rails.

Satinwood

Satinwood is a bright, rich golden-yellow wood, hard in texture. This wood is often imported from Brazil or grown in southern India and Ceylon. Satinwood is valued in cabinetry work.

Pediment

An architectural feature that has a triangular ornament placed on top of a structure such as a a portico, doorway, window or used as a decorative element in furniture. There are many variations on the pediment some have segmental, scroll, and broken forms.
