Born on February 12, 1897, in Copenhagen, Denmark, Madsen's passion for design and craftsmanship emerged at an early age. Madsen received his formal education at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, where he studied furniture design and interior architecture. During his time at the academy, he was greatly influenced by the principles of Danish modernism and the works of renowned designers such as Kaare Klint and Arne Jacobsen.
