Louis Majorelle (1859-1926) was a renowned French furniture designer and decorative artist who played a significant role in the Art Nouveau movement. He was born on September 26, 1859, in Toul, France, into a family of craftsmen. His father, Auguste Majorelle, was a successful furniture designer and manufacturer. Majorelle received his education at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nancy, where he studied architecture and fine arts. During his time at the school, he developed a deep appreciation for nature and its organic forms, which would later become a prominent feature in his design aesthetic.
