About George Nelson

George Nelson (May 29, 1908 - March 5, 1986) was an American industrial designer and architect, renowned for his significant contributions to the field of furniture and decorative arts. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and grew up in an environment that fostered his interest in design and architecture.

Nelson obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture from Yale University in 1928. After completing his studies, he traveled to Europe on a prestigious fellowship, where he immersed himself in the works of prominent architects and designers. This experience greatly influenced his design philosophy and set the foundation for his future career.

Upon returning to the United States, Nelson began working as an editor for Architectural Forum magazine. During
